Expert Verification Workflow

How to review and approve expert profile claims and identity verifications.

2 min read

When an expert claims an existing profile, a verification request is created. Staff review and approve or reject these requests from the Verifications page.

#Accessing the Verification Queue

Navigate to Admin Dashboard → Verifications or click a pending verification from the activity feed. The page shows the heading "Verifications" with the count of pending requests.

#The Verification Table

The queue displays all pending claim requests in a table:

ColumnDescription
Expert NameThe name on the profile being claimed
Claimer EmailEmail of the user requesting the claim
LocationExpert's city and state (visible on larger screens)
SubmittedDate the claim was submitted (visible on medium+ screens)
ActionsApprove or Reject buttons

The Verifications page showing a table of pending claim requests. Each row shows the expert name, claimer email, location, submission date, and green Approve / red Reject buttons on the right side. A badge at the top shows '12 pending'.

#Reviewing a Claim

For each pending request, verify that:

  1. The expert's identity matches the profile (name, institution, credentials)
  2. The claimer's email is plausible for the claimed expert
  3. Supporting documents are authentic (if provided)

#Approving or Rejecting

Each row has two action buttons:

  • Approve (green, check icon) — links the claimer's account to the expert profile. The expert gains full control of their profile and can edit all fields.
  • Reject (red, X icon) — denies the claim. The expert receives a notification.

Both buttons show a loading spinner while processing. Once an action is taken, the row is removed from the queue.

Tip: If you're unsure about a claim, escalate to someone with the ops or super_admin role. Do not approve claims where identity cannot be confirmed.

#Pagination

The table shows 20 claims per page. Use the Previous / Next controls at the bottom to navigate through the queue.

#Empty State

When all pending claims have been processed, you'll see a confirmation message indicating there are no pending verifications.

#SLA

Aim to resolve verification requests within 2 business days. Experts waiting for verification have a pending badge on their profile and lower search ranking until resolved.
